Getting started

What is Finvoice?
Finvoice is the invoice network for Tanzanian business. You send and receive professional invoices free, every settled invoice builds your verified Trust Score, and a strong score unlocks discounted invoice financing from Tanzania's leading banks and financial institutions.
How much does it cost to join?
Nothing to join. Creating an account, sending unlimited invoices, and building your Trust Score are free forever. Finvoice charges a flat 3% on amounts collected through your invoice payment pages, and a transparent 2–4% discount fee only when you choose to finance an invoice.
Who can use Finvoice?
Any registered business operating in Tanzania — from sole proprietors and SMEs to large corporates. You'll need basic business registration details to complete verification (KYC) when you sign up.
Does the business I invoice need a Finvoice account?
Invoices are delivered to any business by email, but acknowledgment and settlement tracking work best when both sides are on the network — and both sides earn reputation for it. Inviting a trading partner takes one click and is free for them too.

Invoicing

Is invoicing really free? What's the catch?
Sending invoices is genuinely free — unlimited invoices, unlimited counterparties, no trial period. Finvoice earns a flat 3% when a buyer pays through your invoice's payment page (recording payments made outside Finvoice is free), and an optional discount fee when you finance an invoice. That's the whole model.
What does 'acknowledgment' mean?
When your buyer acknowledges an invoice, they confirm on the platform that the goods or services were delivered and the amount is correct. That confirmation is what makes your receivable verifiable — and what makes it eligible for financing later.
Can I track when an invoice is viewed or paid?
Yes. Your dashboard shows every invoice's status in real time — sent, viewed, acknowledged, settled — plus automatic payment reminders so you don't have to chase.
What currencies are supported?
Finvoice is TZS-first, built on local payment rails. Support for additional currencies for cross-border trade is on our roadmap.

Trust Score

How is my Trust Score calculated?
Five factors: settlement reliability, acknowledged trade volume, trading history depth, relationship strength, and your dispute record. Every factor is earned through normal trading — see the full breakdown on our Trust Score page.
Who can see my score?
You. It's shared with financing institutions only when you request financing, and with trading partners only if you choose to display it. Sharing is always consent-based, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.
Will a payment dispute destroy my score?
No. A disputed invoice is paused — excluded from scoring until the dispute is resolved. Fair disagreements are part of business; unresolved patterns of non-payment are what lower a score.
How long does it take to build a useful score?
Most businesses establish their first financing-eligible tier within about 90 days of regular invoicing and on-time settlements. The more you trade through the network, the faster your history builds.

Financing

Who actually provides the financing?
Tanzania's leading banks and financial institutions, working behind the scenes through Finvoice. You deal with one simple dashboard; we handle the institutional plumbing. Credit decisions rest with the financing institutions.
How fast do I get the money?
Typically within 48 hours of accepting an offer, paid directly to your business account.
What does financing cost?
A single transparent discount fee, typically 2–4% of the invoice value depending on your Trust Score tier. Example: a TZS 10,000,000 invoice financed at 2.5% means you receive TZS 9,750,000 now. The exact rate is always shown before you accept.
Do I need collateral or a guarantor?
No. The verified, acknowledged invoice is the security. No land titles, no guarantors, no branch visits.
Am I obliged to finance my invoices?
Never. Financing is entirely optional. Many businesses use Finvoice purely for free invoicing and reputation building — and there's no score penalty for never borrowing.

Security & data

How is my data protected?
Bank-grade encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, and full audit trails on every transaction. See our Security page for the complete picture.
Is Finvoice compliant with Tanzanian data law?
Yes. Our data practices align with the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 — including your rights to access, correct, and object, and to complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes — you can export your trading history anytime, and request deletion of personal data subject to legal retention requirements (some transaction records must be kept under Tanzanian law).
